DETAILED PROJECT SUMMARY

Lesedi Technical Engineering Consulting provided the Department with a vision with two alternative ideas. In the first instance Lesedi proposed to the Department to use vacant land owned by PRASA. This option investigated the vacant land parcel between Ehlanzeni Hostel and Leralla Train Station. The second proposed and the preferred option by Lesedi Technical Engineering Consulting was the use of Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality (EMM) owned land at Esselen Park.

For a variety of reasons the department accepted option two and work started on the development of Housing stock to accommodate those from Ehlanzeni and the overflow of residents from Tembisa Hostels. Several specialist studies, as stipulated in the CRU policy, were undertaken to ensure a comprehensive approach to the assessment of the New-Build In-fill Housing feasibility.
